"With so much music being little more than technologically reproduced noise, it's so refreshing to hear a group that expresses its talent almost solely through vocal abilities. Such is the case with Men Out Loud, an openly gay singing quartet whose tight harmonies bring a true passion to their music. In addition to enjoying their phenomenal singing, we are treated to their voices being applied to some favorite hits of the past, including The Rascal's "Good Lovin'," The Beatles' "Yesterday." and even Van Morrison's "Moondance." The group does rely just a bit on disco beat, like in the remake of Madonna's "Express Yourself," but after hearing this, you realize that the occasional instruments really aren't needed. In addition to enjoying the fresh harmonies to some old classic favorites, the most moving moment on the album is "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," an emotional tribute to loved ones who have died from AIDS. Men Out Loud is taking their act on the road, touring several Gay Pride festivals this year, including San Francisco, San Diego, and Orange County."
