Sweet Enuf 2 Eat [hi-nrg/12"]
MEN OUT LOUD
(Pure/Mercury/U.S>) Men Out Loud are an openly gay a cappella quad from Los Angeles. Sporting a Boys II Men sound, these men pride themselves of having a look that’s west Hollywood hot, a sound that is both classic and contemporary and a repertoire that encompasses danceable pop, doo-wop and R&B. And judging by this single, they seem to be right. This infectious pop gem mixes the boys’ typical a cappella sound with dance, boppy and bubbly disco grooves and beats to create a very appealing and likable ditty. Four of the five tracks of the CD single are not a cappella. They’re contemporary remixes of this delicious song. (And of course, who else but four gay men from L.A. could get away with crooning a song called “Sweet Enuf 2 Eat.”) What strikes me most about the group is their incredible ability to harmonize together. They fit together like pieces of a puzzle, creating a rich, vibrant and melodic sound. Jeffrey L. Newman [03/97 ]

Don't Cry For Me Argentina [hi-nrg/12"]
MADONNA
Prod. Madonna/Flores/Garza. (Warner/US: 130bpm) Told ya so! Madonna has released an utterly dynamic dancemix interpretation of her remarkable "Evita" theme. Mainstream audiences will now have the opportunity to enjoy the lavish sounds many of us have relished for years. The gorgeous "Miami Mix" plays like an elaborate cross hybrid of Blue System's "Romeo & Juliet", No Mercy's "Where Do You Go" and the NRG masterpiece "Crucified" by Army of Lovers. This track features the absolute best vocal performance Ms. Ciccone has ever treated us all to. Just so you also know, Junior Vasquez has circulated white label promos of HIS mix... can we say yawn? Okay, it's not that bad, but it's the same drum rolls, kickdrum etc. which we've heard for the last 4 years. Thanks Madonna, you've set a wonderful new precident and direction for the overly R&B US music industry to enviously follow. JASON DAVIS [03/97 ]
